We are planning a vacation in May 2010, we have stayed at CBR April 2009 LOVED IT! However I am looking at doing BC. Can you please tell me if going to a deluxe over the moderate resort it is worth the money. Thank you sooo much (Love the Panel!)

    Patti:

Because you're a fan of the panel, you know I'm a budget mom....and had I not recently stayed at the Beach Club, I probably wouldn't be as adamant that the deluxe was worth the price.  However, deluxe resorts, and specifically Beach Club, offer several things that the moderates don't:

    1. Better pool facilities.  I know you're thinking 'Caribbean Beach Resort's pool and theme is fabulous!' AND IT IS.  But Beach Club is over-the-top!  It sports a water slide with a perch almost as tall as the hotel; a kid's area with white beach sand, and movies at night.  You can also float its mini "lazy river."
    2. Close access to the parks: You can't put a price on the fact you can walk to Epcot in 5 minutes and Disney Studios in 12 to 15 minutes.  (OR take the boat, a ride in itself.)
    3. Better restaurants.  Not only does Beach Club offer a Character Breakfast with Mickey at Cape May, you're also near Beaches 'n' Cream, home of the "kitchen-sink" sundae and one of the best steakhouses on property: Yachtman's.  (PLUS: you've got all the restaurants at  nearby Boardwalk!
    4. Lots of activities & Nightlife. Beach Club sits across from the Boardwalk with its shopping and boardwalk games.  Catch Illuminations from several areas at 9 p.m. each evening!
    5. Bigger rooms.  The deluxe rooms can accommodate 5 with their day beds.  Only one moderate resort is a fit for the large family, Port Orleans: Riverside, and its trundles can hardly compare to the day beds that with standard mattresses!
If you're struggling on a budget, consider cutting down on your park visits if you need to because, rest assured, you'll have lots of other activities out of the parks at the deluxe resorts!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
