We are planning a vacation in early Jan but not booking until probably mid October. I know you can make reservations as early as 180 days but will I have trouble making reservations @ Akershus, Donald's safari & coral reef that close to our date?

    Hi Lynne,

January is one of my favorite times to visit Walt Disney World!  Just be sure to pack with plenty of layers as the weather can vary widely.  I've had times when we've worn hats and mittens in January, and others when we've gone swimming.

The 180-day reservation window does not become effective until October 27, 2009, so assuming you are visiting in early January this will not affect you as your 90-day window will have already opened. Also, you should be aware that a resort confirmation is not required to book dining, so even if you haven't secured your resort reservation, I suggest making your dining reservations as soon as your 90-day window opens.

The resort reservation is beneficial if your plan on booking right at the 90 day window opening, because resort guests can book all of their dining on the first day for their entire trip (up to 10 days), unlike non-resort guests that would have to call back each day.

Good luck, and have a great trip!
