Hello Jennifer and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
My very first trip to a Disney Destination involved piling into my mom's Dodge Duster and heading out for a cross-country adventure to the
Disneyland Resort in California. When our girls were young, we did the same thing. But we headed East, to the Walt DisneyWorld Resort. So, I have been down that road- literally! I genuinely believe that all families should experience this type of road trip. There are many ways to plan your journey so I will tell you my recommendations for the best trip possible.
First, to make it memorable for all the right reasons, make sure you provide enough breaks and opportunities to see some of the fantastic sites along the way. This will also allow for much-needed energy expenditures.
Second, pack a travel pack for each of the children with items and activities geared for them individually. You could even do a different kit for each day of the journey. Make sure in include some old school travel games like car bingo.
Third, I highly recommend planning to stay at one of the outstanding
Walt Disney World Resort hotels. For the size of your crew, my choice would be the
Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. The cabins are private hideaways that sleep six and are nestled in a setting that feels remote but is only a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom Park. After a long drive, you will be able to put the keys away and enjoy the free transportation available across Walt Disney World.
I hope this gives you a jump start on your planning!
See ya real soon,
Anne
