I am planning a vacation for April 24-May 1, 2010. Will be 6 of us altogether - my dad, husband and our 3 boys ages 5, 9 and 13. Torn between AKL and BCR. What do you suggest? We have never been to Disney before and are looking for best bang for our buck

Hi Mary - that's a great time to visit Walt Disney World!  My family always enjoys visiting during the first week of May.

You've actually selected two of my favorite resorts!  I love the atmosphere at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  The resort is warm and inviting, and the restaurants are absolutely delicious.  The animal views are breathtaking - my kids absolutely loved seeing animals through the window of our savanna view room.  However, it's not as convenient as the Beach Club, and the rooms are smaller.

If I were you, I'd select the Beach Club, especially if your family enjoys swimming.  Stormalong Bay, the shared pool of the Yacht Club and Beach Club, is absolutely amazing, and you could easily spend an entire day just hanging out at the resort.  It's also very convenient, as you can walk to Hollywood Studios, the Boardwalk, and Epcot.

    Have a great vacation!
