We are planning our vacation for 2 adults 3 kids/10 days in July 2012. We have looked into booking 1 room for 5 vs 2 adjoining rooms, but the 2nd option seems to be always more expensive. Any suggestion on how to get the best affordable vacation for 7k?

    Hi Christopher,

As a family of five, I have total empathy with trying to make a resort's room comfortable for everyone but to stay within a budget.  For many visits, our family stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, which does have rooms for five.  Also, it is also going through renovations, and the new rooms look wonderful.  Since this is a moderate resort, the cost was always more within our budget.  If you'd like to explore the resort further, you might like to visit www.portorleans.org.

Another budget-friendly resort is the Cabins at Ft. Wilderness.  Basically, you get your own little log cabin! You may also find having a kitchen another way to cut some expenses.

Similarly, the All-Star Music Resort is a value resort that has family suites:  two rooms, two bathrooms, & a kitchenette.  If your children are older, the two bathrooms may come in quite handy!  The Art of Animation is Walt Disney World's newest resort that will begin opening in May 2012; it, too, is a value resort with family suites.

I hope these give you some new options; please let us know if we can help again with any more questions as you continue to prepare for your trip.
