Planning our 1st vac w/3 kids we are going to arrive 12/23/12 and are keeping it a surprise from kids they have no clue I need advice on everything we are getting dining plan but we are travelling w/special needs child just need help to make it perfect.

That's a long time to keep a secret, Jennifer.  Good luck keeping your lips sealed!  As for your trip, you're doing a great job in starting to plan this far out.  Your next steps will be choosing a resort to call "home" during your stay and deciding on a rough itinerary.  Once you've got that covered, you'll want to call 407-WDW-DINE180 days out to schedule your dining reservations.  From there, you'll just fine tune your plans and try to keep your excitement hidden from your children!

There are a few Disney Moms Panelists with special needs children--myself included--and we're more than happy to help with the details of your trip.  To best meet your needs, it's helpful if you can ask one specific planning question at a time.  Think along the lines of, "My family is visiting in December and trying to decide on a resort.  We're debating between Port Orleans Riverside and the cabins.  Which do you think is best suited for a family with young children?"  That way, we can fit all of our pixie-dusted advice into our allotted word limit.  You can also research which moms have kids with special needs and ask a question specifically to that mom.  You might start by reading the bios of Beth C., Allison V., and yours truly.  Hopefully one of us will be able to provide precisely the details you need to make for a magical holiday trip!

Meet the Panelist: Darcie, Alabama

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
