we are planning a trip with our 5 year old son in July. we will be going to magic kingdom on one day and the next day animal kingdom. are there any tools available to help me build an itinerary for us to follow

    Hi, there!

Welcome to planDisney, Andrea. I’m so glad you stopped by! It looks like your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just about to begin. How exciting! You must be counting down the minutes.

Experiencing the Walt Disney World Resort with a little one in tow always makes for magical memories. With one day in Magic Kingdom Park and one day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park planned, you’ll want to make the most of your pixie-dusted adventures! Be sure to download the My Disney Experience mobile app before your visit. It’s magic at your fingertips! You can use the app to view current wait times for attractions, preview Disney PhotoPass photos, place Mobile Food and Beverage Orders, and more. I think you’ll especially appreciate that you can use the complimentary Disney Genie feature on the app to create itineraries that are tailored to your family’s unique interests. To start using this handy feature, open the My Disney Experience mobile app and tap on the ‘Get Started Now’ button you see on the home screen next to the icon of Genie’s lamp. Follow the prompts that follow to select the dates of your park visits, select the members of your party, and select your touring priorities. Then, with Genie’s phenomenal cosmic powers, you’ll have an itinerary created just for your family!

To maximize your fun, I recommend arriving to the theme parks as early as possible. Wait times for attractions are typically the lowest early in the morning. It’s also the coolest part of the day! When wait times and the temperature start to rise, find a nicely air-conditioned dining location to enjoy lunch and then take in an indoor show like Mickey’s PhilharMagic at Magic Kingdom Park or Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

I hope this was helpful, Andrea. I’m wishing you and your family a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
