Hello Angie,
Halloween and Christmas are my two all-time favorite holidays. So spending them at Disney is like a dream come true. But asking me to choose between
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) and
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP) is like asking me to choose between dark and white chocolate. It's almost impossible!
Because both parties require separate admission, when I have gone in the past, the parks have not been jammed packed. I felt it was easy to maneuver the Magic Kingdom with my family.
Both have specially themed parades. But my favorite parade is the one for MNSSHP because it begins with a ride by the Headless Horseman. I always scout out a spot on the parade route just for the perfect view of him.
Both parties also have a special fireworks show: HalloWishes and Holiday Wishes. I couldn't even begin to choose which I love more. They both are spectacular. But, I will admit, seeing Cinderella's Castle at Christmas draped in hundreds of lights is a sight to see.
That all said, MNSSHP is the party I would recommend because not only are our favorite characters dressed up but guests are invited to come in costume too. There are even trick-or-treat stations set up. It's such a fabulous experience!
Unfortunately, the resorts do not go all out with Halloween decorations. It's nothing compared to what Disney does to transform resorts for Christmas. The Grand Floridian Resort has a stunning gingerbread house you can literally walk into. The Contemporary Resort has a 17 foot tree made of gingerbread. And the Beach Club has a gingerbread carousel. The details at each of the hotels on property are amazing.
Hope this helps!
