Hello there, David! Welcome to planDisney! I'm so excited you're planning a trip, no matter how far in the future it may be! Whenever plans call for time at
Walt Disney World Resort, it's sure to be a great, big, beautiful tomorrow...or two years' worth of tomorrows, in your case!
You're correct that in the past - prior to 2004, in fact - tickets used to have no expiration date, and I've heard stories of Guests finding unused park tickets from ages ago that are still honored today! To paraphrase the words of the Emperor from Mulan, "you don't find a deal like that every dynasty!" Nowadays, however,
tickets do have expiration dates, and they're narrow by comparison. but there's no reason to despair! Any unused, expired ticket's value can be applied toward the purchase of a new ticket at any time - so purchasing a ticket today for time two years down the road is definitely a possibility!
While we can't be sure what 2024 and beyond will bring, you could channel your inner Chip & Dale and squirrel...er...chipmunk...away your ticket in the hopes that it will bring you good fortune in the future! Or you can go full Scrooge McDuck and lock your riches in your vault until you're good and ready to part with it for an incredible Walt Disney World Resort vacation - the choice is yours!
Whichever you choose, you'll want to be on the lookout for any changes in the coming months and years to the
Disney Park Pass reservation system, as well as the
Park Hopper® Option. Personally, if I were planning that far in advance (which I often do, and is a totally planDrew-approved approach!) I'd plan on adding the Park Hopper Option to maximize the flexibility of my time in the parks - though that's usually only when I'm not lounging around on one of the
Disney Cruise Line ships!
OH, and by 2024,
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, much of
EPCOT's reimagining, and some exciting new things taking shape in Tomorrowland will all likely have been completed, bringing even more magic to your vacation! With so much to look forward to over the years you'll have to plan, I hope that gives you a bit of light at the end of the tunnel - or maybe I should say "lightcycle at the end of the tunnel" - that makes the wait worth it!
Thank you so much for your question, David, and I'll see if we can get someone from Tomorrowland to work on fixing the time machine so we can jump ahead to your visit. Until then, I wish you a magical time planning! If you come up with additional questions, please send them our way here at planDisney!
Until we meet again!
Andrew
