Ahoy Michael!
Welcome back to planDisney! We’re thrilled you have gone from asking landlubber questions about Walt Disney World and are now charting a course for a cruise with Captain Mickey! The
Alaska itineraries are positively amazing, and the Disney Wonder lives up to its name with many awe-inspiring and jaw dropping moments. How could it not be with such stunning Alaskan scenery?
As you know,
Edge is the tween club onboard and custom made for kids ages 11-14. Sounds like you are hopeful that your two kiddos can both go into Edge together even though your son will be just shy of 11. The final call on whether your almost 11-year-old can join his sibling in Edge is up to the Youth Counselors. Generally speaking, they do try to stick with the age ranges for the Youth Clubs, and they have to draw the line somewhere with age cutoffs. However, I know from experience that they are more likely to let a teen or tween who is “on the bubble” as far as age join a sibling or a friend who is older in the club they are in.
So I suggest that you all go to Edge and chat with the Youth Counselors during the Open House hours, which are posted on the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. My son was just shy of 14 when we sailed on the Disney Wonder to Alaska, and he really wanted to join his sister in Vibe. After a quick chat with the Youth Counselors, they updated his Key to the World card to allow him access to this teen hangout.
We adored our Alaska sailing and still rave about it to family, friends...and basically anyone that will listen! I hope you and your family have the trip of a lifetime on your Alaskan adventure at sea.
Happy Sailing!
