I am planning a trip for my whole extended family for Sep 23-28! We are not purchasing a hopper pass so we are trying to plan which days to visit which parks and make reservations. How do we know which night fireworks and different events will be held?

Hey there Emily!  It can be a task planning a vacation, especially for such a large group, so I am so happy to help!

While the official Disney site does contain park calendars, I actually prefer to search the unofficial information site WDWINFO.COM to access their fireworks and show schedules.  Here you will be able to view the entire calendar for the month of September which will include parade times, show times, fireworks times, and operating hours for all 4 theme parks and even the water parks.

It always helps me to print the calendar and enter the information into a spreadsheet of my own, especially when I'm traveling with a larger group.  I can color code it and add any special events and "must dos" on my list.  Once I have a plan, I'll go back in and enter my "park of the day" as well as my dining reservations and confirmation numbers.  You can print out a copy for each member of your group so everyone cows where to be and when!

Hope this helps and please keep the questions coming!  I am here to help and I love springing Pixie Dust on Walt DIsney World vacations!
