If we are planning a trip for the 1st week in January 2025, will the water parks and water rides still be open? What about the pools at the resorts? Thanks!

Happy New Year, Sabel! Wow! It sounds like you're ready to splash into 2025 with a Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

When you arrive on January 1, 2025, Disney’s Blizzard Beach will be open for Guests to enjoy! While this splash-tastic park is currently closed, it will reopen for Guests beginning on November 4, 2024, and remain open through the season! The hours currently posted for Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park for Wednesday, January 1, 2025, are 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Please note that hours are subject to change. You can always check the water park hours on the Walt Disney World Resort website!

Unless they are scheduled for refurbishment, most water rides in the Disney Parks and pools in the Disney Resort hotels remain open during the winter months. The best way to look for rides that are being refurbished is to visit the Disney Parks Calendar. If attractions are closed for refurbishment, they will be noted under the “Closed for Refurbishment” section.

It's important to note that water parks and water attractions can close based on inclement weather. For example, if the temperatures drop, the water park can close. The Walt Disney World Resort does its best to provide prior notice for water park closure based on weather forecasts. Another attraction to keep an eye on during cold weather is Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park. That attraction can close in colder weather as well. Guests can get very wet on this ride and it would be uncomfortably cold if the weather is on the chillier side, as it can occasionally be at the Walt Disney World Resort in January.

I hope this is helpful information as you continue planning your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! Come on back with more questions!

    Dreams do come true!
