I have been planning a trip to WDW all year to surprise my daughter for her 14th birthday. We leave the 15th. I have the stitch breakfast and six park hopping days planned. What else do I need to make sure we do?

    Hi, Melissa!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and congratulations on being an AWESOME mom!

Since you're leaving in less than two weeks, I'd suggest booking your FastPass+ reservations as soon as possible. They are complimentary, and very strategic to every Guest visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. In a nutshell, the FastPass+ system works for attractions in the same way that dining reservations work for restaurants. It allows you to reserve attraction times to access them through an exclusive line with shorter wait times.

You will be allowed to book three FastPass+ times per day in advance, all in the same Theme Park. After using the first three selections, you will be able to book more, one at a time.

The My Disney Experience app is the best resource to book them, in my opinion. I encourage you to download it, log in with your My Disney Experience account, and browse the options available for your dates. You will have to book FastPass+ selections for you and your daughter, so don't forget to add her to your group when finding the best options for you both.

Also, don't forget to ask for Birthday Celebration buttons upon check-in. They will inevitably open many smiles along the way, so be sure to have her wear her button to the Theme Parks!

Because you are coming in September, you can also attend my favorite seasonal party, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. At this Special Event, all Guests are allowed to wear costumes - and they're as fun to wear as they are to watch!

Among the many entertainment options exclusively available at the party, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is my favorite. The Sanderson Sisters sing live to cast a spell all over Magic Kingdom Park, and the effect is stunning. The last showing of this celebration is my perfect way to end a night at Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. The spell is real!

I hope you and your daughter have the most fantastic birthday celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort, Melissa! If more questions pop up before you leave, please, don't hesitate to come back. Fantastic moms like you are always welcome at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

May the magic be with you,
