Hi! We are planning our 2nd trip to WDW and trying to decide between end of Aug (free dining) and beg of Nov. We went in 09 late June so would love to go in Nov but very hesitant about taking the children out of school. Is Aug bearable with the heat? Thx

Hi, Jessica!  You have already climbed the first obstacle in facing the August heat - acknowledging the existence of August heat!

I have to tell you, it can be stifling!  Fortunately, at Walt Disney World, there are many inside attractions, and if you go down there knowing it's going to be very hot and very humid, you can plan your day accordingly.  I try not to make the kids wait outside too long, so we might do one attraction where we have to wait in line outside, then head right to an inside attraction or we walk through a few shops.  I also make it a point to get to the park first thing in the morning, and plan lunch right around 1 o'clock, when it seems like the heat might be at it's worst.

If you use Fast Pass when you can, you might be able to minimize wait times.  Also, keep water with you.  Stay well hydrated.  Wear lots of sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses, and don't under dress.  You may think you'd be cooler in camis and shorts, but the more skin you have exposed, the more skin the sun is going to be beating down on.  I always wear a t-shirt so that at least my very pale skin is covered there!

November is a very nice time to go, but I understand not wanting to pull the kids out of school.  Is it possible to time it around teacher in-service days or maybe do a long weekend instead of missing days during the week?

Have a great time whenever you go!
