We are planning a trip to WDW 1/3/14- 1/10/14. We are really interested in trying the holiday sweets available. How long are they available? Especially the goodies at the Contemporary and throughout NO and Epcot. We have never been at this time of year!

    Hi Kelli,

You asked a great question (and not just because it's about my favorite topic - food!).

I've visited Walt Disney World right after New Year's, so I can speak to my experience from the past. During those visits, I recall that there were a few lingering Holiday sweets available. However, what I saw wasn't near the full extent of the treats that I've seen during the height of the Holiday season.

Now, I hope I didn't just rain on your parade!

Just in case I did, let me toss you a poncho because we're in the middle of what I'm calling a season of "Fantastic Food Finds" at Walt Disney World. The culinary team has been turning up the heat and introducing a whole bunch of new experiences. Here are a few of my favorites:

    1) Food Trucks at Downtown Disney

On Wednesdays through Sundays, you can hang out on the West Side (near Cirque du Soleil) and see 4 new food trucks. Now, these aren't the "roach coaches" that I used to frequent as a kid. Nope, these trucks are offering bone fide gourmet dishes, many of which are inspired by popular dishes at other Walt Disney World restaurants.

    2) The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge

I was there the day it opened a few weeks ago, and I swore that I heard angels singing to me. This is a walk-up lounge that offers a tapas-style menu items and a full-service bar. This is such a cool place to hang out and the food is incredible!

    3) The Spice Road Table in Epcot's Morocco Pavilion

Disney foodies (like yours truly) have been waiting with bated breath for this new restaurant to open. I haven't heard a formal announcement on the date (which is supposed to be soon), but I have heard some rumors about the menu (and it sounds awesome!).

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
