Planning a trip to WDW next year for the new Star Wars offerings. I’m considering purchasing an annual pass for the room discount benefit, but if I buy it in 2019, and the Star Wars hotel doesn’t open until 2020 will the pass still be good?

    Dear Erika,

It is a galactically good time to visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, with so much excitement rolling out this year and next!

It's terrific that you are starting to plan your Walt Disney World Resort vacation for the next couple of years, and I am also an Annual Passholder so I know how significant the perks and benefits are!

When you become an Annual Passholder, you do not need to immediately activate your Annual Pass. You can purchase it and even use it to reserve Walt Disney World Resort hotels with Annual Passholder discounts, all before activating it! On the first day that you arrive to the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks to use your Annual Pass, that is the first day that the "clock starts" on your year. It is then good for 365 days from that date of first use in the parks. Does that make sense?

That being said, and I don't have official word on this, but at a guess there may not be too many room discounts on the brand new Star Wars hotel because it is likely going to be extremely popular. If I was you, I wouldn't plan on those particular discounts at this time. Again, that's not the official word but just my thoughts on it.

Hope that helps with your magical planning!
