    We are planning our trip to WDW for July 2017. I understand how the Magicbands work, but I'm wondering do we have a choice of which ones we get from the resort or do we buy from a Disney store if we want something special?

    Hi Sandra,

    You're going to Disney World!!!  How exciting!!!  Great idea to start planning early as you'll need time to make decisions...trust me...there is so much going on and a lot more NEW and magical things coming to Disney.

    When you book your Disney resort, you will have the option, through your My Disney Experience account, to either decline or receive your MagicBands.  If you choose to order, they are complimentary and you'll be able to choose your color and personalize them on the back.  If you decline to receive them, you will be able to choose a color at the Front Desk of your resort when you check in.  Of course, that's not a 100% guarantee that you'll get your color choice, and they don't have the ability to personalize them either.

    You can purchase MagicBands from the Disney Store whether it's online or in person.  You can link them to your account through My Disney Experience.  There's also an incredible variety of MagicBands for sale at Disney World. 

    My suggestion would be to customize your free MagicBands when you reserve your room, and have them mailed to you.  Then, if you see one you love at Disney World, you won't be in a huge rush to buy and link them to your account.  You'll have your original MagicBands to use, and you can link your purchased ones to your account yourself online, or at the Front Desk at your convenience.
