We are planning a trip to WDW in July and are staying at the Beach Club Resort. It is advertised that it has a sand bottom pool. Does that literally mean that the pool has sand? Just trying to understand what that means? Thanks.

    Hi Patty,

The Stormalong Bay Pool at the Beach Club Resort is the coolest pool ever!!!!  My daughter loves swimming there and yes! there is actual sand at the bottom of the pool.  There are different locations as this pool winds around a very large area.  This pool area is over 3 acres and there is the Beach Club part and the Yacht Club part...these are separate and different, so be sure to check out all of it!  There is a super slide made in a pirate ship theme and there is also a part to this pool that has a 6 foot drop into a "current flowing" water circle that allows you to slowly move around this area while you lounge about in a blow up dinghy/raft (which were provided here, and already floating in the pool when I was there in "2007", so you only needed to grab one and start floating!).  Now on to the sand part....very neat indeed!  There is a whole area of the pool which has sand on the bottom so you feel like you are at the beach swimming.  In the middle of this swimming area there is a huge mound/mountain of sand with supplied buckets and shovels for making those sand castles just as if you were at the beach.  Just in case you are a complete sand fanatic, I will tell you that this phenomenal pool is located right across from the resort's beach where you can also enjoy some beach and sand fun!  I hope you choose this resort, I am sure you would be pleased with it's excellent location and wonderful restaurants that we also eat at when vacationing there.

    All my best,
