Hi! I am planning a trip to WDW in July and saw that Disney's Magical Express is no longer running. What are the best alternatives for getting from Orlando Airport to the Coronado Springs Resort? Thanks!

    Hello Mike,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. Before you know it, summer will be here and you'll be headed to join in the World's Most Magical Celebration! Disney's Coronado Springs Resort has some amazing dining options. Be sure to have a few tapas and drinks while enjoying the view from Dahlia Lounge or make reservations for dinner at Toledo.

Getting from the airport to Walt Disney Resort takes a bit more planning than it used to, but there are several options to choose from: motor coach transportation, ride shares, taxis, personal drivers, or even rental cars. You have the flexibility to choose what's most convenient for you.

Motor Coach or Shuttles: Companies like Mears Connect and Sunshine Flyer provide shuttle bus service that most closely resembles what you were used to with Disney's Magical Express. In fact, Mears Connect is basically the same service, run by the same company that operated Magical Express, and even located in the same place in the airport. You'll just need to make your own reservations online with either company.

Ride Share Services: Uber and Lyft are increasingly popular especially among small groups of guests. Drivers will take you directly to your resort.

Taxi Service: A traditional taxi is always an option. Just head to Ground Transportation at the airport and look for the taxi line.

Hire a Town Car or Limo: I know several guests who don't even consider this mode of transportation, thinking it will be too expensive. Depending on the size of your party, it can be pretty comparable to what you might pay for your whole group to take a motor coach. The bonus is that a lot of time you can schedule a complimentary stop at a convenience store for water, sunscreen or other essentials that you couldn't pack in your carry on. Plus, you'll get personalized airport to resort service.

Rental Car: A lot of guests visiting Walt Disney World don't want to think about driving while they are on vacation. If that describes you, I completely understand. However, having your own transportation makes it easy to head to another resort for a meal or even head to the parks for the day and be able to quickly get back to your hotel room for a midday break.

Hope this helps. Have a magical vacation!

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
