I am planning a trip to WDW in July. Children ages 3 & 5. Could you tell me more about what to expect for my children at their ages? Restrictions? Suggestions on how to maximize their experience?

Hello, Nikki! Your children are at the perfect ages for a first visit to Walt Disney World! At ages three and five, your children should be able to enjoy most of the ride attractions at each of the theme parks, but there are a few height restrictions that you will need to be aware of. I recommend that you visit the official Walt Disney World Resort website to check out the attractions before your vacation. You can filter the attractions to fit your family's age interest - Preschoolers - as well as thrill level, and even see the height requirements for each attraction. This will especially come in handy when your FastPass+ selection window opens up, as you will already have a general idea as to which attractions your family would benefit making FastPass+ selections for.

You really do not need to worry yourself with maximizing their experience or adding more fun. The theme parks are all so magical, and your children should be able to participate in most of the rides, attractions, parades, and character meet 'n' greet opportunities all over the Walt Disney World Resort. Add in a special Character Dining experience and fireworks display, and you should be all set!

I do have a few suggestions that may make your time at the theme parks a bit more enjoyable for everyone in the family: Bring (or rent) a stroller, keep snacks handy, and plan a midday return to your hotel for a nap and a splash in the pool. These simple tips really come in handy on my family's visits, and help us to enjoy the magic all around.

Walt Disney World is full of magical surprises for the whole family, and I'm sure you and your children will have a wonderful time exploring the theme parks on your upcoming vacation. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to stop back by the Moms Panel. Happy planning, Nikki!
