Planning a trip to WDW with another couple. We both have 7 yr boys and 5 yr girls ( 8 of us total). I would love suggestions on when to go and where to stay for our group. Which activies are best for the boys and which are best for the girls?

    Hi Melissa,

I love your question.  It's the kind of query that could draw a wide variety of responses depending on who answers it.  My personal opinion is that springtime is the perfect time to visit Walt Disney World, especially since I notice that you, like me, are a northerner.  There's nothing like taking a break from the wintry weather in mid-March.  Epcot is celebrating the Flower and Garden Festival at that time so there simply is no more beautiful time to visit Walt Disney World.  Just stay away from the weeks before and after Easter if you can.

I suggest you pick a Disney resort near the Magic Kingdom based on the age of the children.  Disney's Wilderness Lodge is one of Disney's best kept secrets.  That's where we stayed with my then five-year-old son during his very first visit to Walt Disney World.  It is only a four minute bus ride to the Magic Kingdom from this resort and it is the most affordable deluxe Disney hotel in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World.  The theming at this resort is spectacular!

While most activities at Walt Disney World will be enjoyed by both boys and girls alike, there are a few activities that might specifically attract the boys or girls in your group.  My guess is that the boys would love to be transformed into young scalawags at The Pirates League in the Magic Kingdom.  Meanwhile, the girls could enjoy a princess transformation at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.  These experiences should be booked in advance by calling (407) WDW-CREW and (407) WDW-STYLE, respectively.

Let us know if you have any additional questions as you plan your magical Disney adventure.
