We are planning a trip to WDW to celebrate my brother's 17th B-day! It will be my 3rd trip, his 2nd. We're making dining reservations for the first time. How strict is the arrival time? If we are in line for a ride, can we show up late?

Hi there, Colleen! Welcome to planDisney! It would be my pleasure to help you make your brother’s 17th birthday an occasion to remember! Happiest of birthdays to him! What a thoughtful sister you are.

When it comes to birthdays, what could be better than a visit to Walt Disney World with those you love? He will truly feel special, especially given that it is his second visit! A dining reservation will be perfect on his big day. When it comes to arrival time, there is a bit of wiggle room; usually, 5-10 minutes after your reservation is reasonable to allow for delays. However, anything beyond that would likely come with a significant risk of losing your reservation. My advice would be to make sure you stay close to the restaurant for any attractions you choose to experience beforehand. Look at the wait times in the My Disney Experience Mobile App and budget your time accordingly! It is fine to arrive a little bit early to your reservation, but within the same App, you can use Mobile Dining Check-in for many locations! Lastly, if an unprecedented event truly delays you, call the restaurant directly and explain your situation. Cast Members want to make sure you have an incredible day and will do their best to be understanding and accommodating!

Colleen, did you know you can order custom cakes to be delivered to your table at many dining locations? These Mickey-themed treats are sure to add that special sparkle to your brother’s special day!

It has been fun helping you dream and plan! Please know that we are here for you with any questions you may have, and it would be our pleasure to see you here again!

    Wishing you many magical memories,
    Clara
