Planning a trip to WDW for Aug 2014 with husband and 2 daughters (7 & 10). Trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter. Stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort last time and loved it! What are the pros and cons of each? Recommendatio

    Hi Paula!

Welcome Back!  It's always nice to see a fellow Canadian find their way to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  You have narrowed your Walt Disney World Resort selections down to two great choices.  For your family I would recommend Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside, in a Royal Guest Room.  These resort rooms are finished with magical touches fit for any princess!  My daughter absolutely loves staying here!  They are also extremely close to transportation as well as dining and pools.  In terms of pros for this resort, I definitely prefer the dining options.  There is more selection and there is even a Table-Service location - Boatwright's Dining Hall.  I love the theming at this resort, the magnolia trees and the Sassagoula River is breathtaking.  As for the cons - this resort is extremely large, so there are more guests and further walks to get to your destinations.  If you choose this resort, make sure you take the time to see Yehaa Bob perform in the River Roost Lounge.  He will leave your whole family in stitches!

Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter is much smaller.  I love the theming here as well, with a slightly more vibrant and colourful décor.  The cons for this resort for me is that there is no Table Service Dining location.  The Quick Service Sassagoula Floatworks and Factory Food Court is very nice, but I do like the option of having a sit down dining location at my resort.  I would recommend this resort for adults coming by themselves as it is much more quaint and provides a fabulous atmosphere for a quiet vacation.

I hope this information helps Paula.  Please feel free to send me a follow up question if you would like some more information regarding either of your Walt Disney World Resort choices or anything else as you continue to plan.  I would be happy to help!
