We're planning a trip to Walt Disney World at the end of September 2022. We have a hotel reservations with park tickets already. Should we wait to reserve park dates until we're able to reserve dinning, or reserve park dates now?

Hey howdy hey Stephanie and welcome to planDisney!

I've got to say that the fall is one of my absolute favorite times to visit Walt Disney World Resort. I love the feel of fall at the resort as a whole as well as the fall decorations that go up around Magic Kingdom. If you have not been, I would highly recommend Disney After Hours Boo Bash (or Mickey's Not So Scarry Halloween Party as it was pre Covid days, still waiting on which one happens this fall in 2022) and of course my all-time favorite EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival. From celebrations of the fall and Halloween season to the celebration of the fall food and drink offerings, everyone is sure to have a fantastic time in Walt Disney World Resort.

Although in the past, the fall, specifically September, was a month that did not get to full capacity, Covid-19 definitely changed a lot this past year. I would recommend making your park reservations as soon as you have an idea of which parks you would want to be in each day. This ensures that you have your park reservation secured in case unexpected capacity limitations are reached sooner than expected. You always have the option to cancel your Park Pass Reservation and rebook them for a different day, say if you need to as the dates get closer to your vacation with the release of the special celebration dates such as the Halloween party in Magic Kingdom. If you are going to change the Park Pass Reservation dates, you need to cancel them and rebook to the new date, but make sure that you check on the Theme Park Reservation Availability tool to ensure there are openings to accommodate your reservation before you cancel.

As you mentioned, advanced dinning reservations open up 60 days in advance, but no need to delay any planning. I would make sure that whatever option that you decide on for dinning in the parks, you have a couple options just in case your number one does not work out. Also know that you can make your dinning reservations online and by logging into your My Disney Experience account, which will link everything in one place!

I hope you enjoy the time planning your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth as I have found this was such an enjoyable process and a great way to get super excited for your trip. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to reach out, we love talking all things Walt Disney World Resort here at planDisney.

    Happy planning,
