We are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in December 2008. I booked a room only for 12/7 thru 12/13. Is this a good time to visit or would 12/13 to 12/20 be better? Is is Pop Warner wwk the first week I picked. Thank you.

You have picked a wonderful time of year to visit Walt Disney World. Early to mid-December offers low crowds and holiday festivities.

Both of the weeks that you have mentioned will be nice times to visit. Since most schools are likely to be in session until the Friday prior to the Christmas holiday, the crowds won’t roll in until that weekend.

Last year the Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer and Dance Championships were December 2-8.
We have been to WDW a few times during this event. Although we’ve encountered a few groups within the resorts, they are very easy to navigate around since they tend to travel in large packs. The events take place at the Wide World of Sports Complex. We were there when the events still took place at the Hollywood Studios, closing down the Indiana Jones show for a few days and creating large groups of the players and dancers throughout the park. This year the dates are December 7-13.

Last year they were offered Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter and the All Star resorts, so plan accordingly. Sometimes parents will book other resorts such as Pop Century.  There were only a few cheerleaders with parents when we stayed at the Polynesian. They will create crowds at the resort in the mornings and evenings. I’ve heard that the cheerleaders can be quite loud while practicing late in to the night. They also tend to crowd the resort pools and buses.

If it’s easy for you to change your dates, I would consider going the following week.
