Planning a trip for any time after May 2017 - 2 kids, 5 and 3 yrs. old. When is the best time to visit (Disney is pricing tickets differently for peak times, right?)? & Best Resort to stay (cost effective would be nice, but quality is #1)?

Hi Benjamin! It is good you are planning now for your 2017 Walt Disney World vacation. With so many decisions to be made its best to start early and avoid the stress and panic and enjoy the process.

The summer months are hot and humid and rainy but it is also a time when you can travel with the kids if they are in school. If you need to go in the summer head there in early June before the massive crowds descend on the parks. If you can wait until the fall it is recommended. September is a good value month but it is still hot. My preferred month in the fall is November before the Thanksgiving week. The weather is changing to be cooler and less humid and the crowds tend to be manageable.

Your resort choice is a tough one as budget always comes into play and everyone has different needs and preferences. My choice for children your age in a Deluxe Resort would be the Polynesian Resort as it is close to the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom Lodge where they can watch the animals from your room.

My moderate choice would be either Port Orleans Riverside or the Old Key West resorts. They are themed well, still offer good amenities, and are located conveniently in the center of the property so getting places will not take long by bus.

The Value Resort choice is Pop Century or Art of Animation Family Suites.

If you are adventurous I also highly recommend the Fort Wilderness cabins where you are in a different and fun setting.

You can see all the Benefits of a Disney Resort and compare the amenities to help you decide on which is best for your family. It is nice to have so many options. Consider location, on site resort amenities, room configurations, and cost. I am sure one will pop out to be the best choice for you!
