Hi, Ruth! A Tower Room gives you great views of either Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake depending on which side of the Tower you stay. Staying in the Tower gives you closer proximity to the walkway to Magic Kingdom, restaurants, and the monorail. On the down side of it, there can be some noise from Chef Mickey's depending on your room location. There is also a price issue; It is more expensive to stay in a standard room in the Tower vs a standard room in the Garden Wing.
The Garden Wing is closer to the pool area. If your kids plan to spend a lot of time at the pool, this is a good option. From these rooms, it is a bit of a walk to get to the lobby area and a longer walk to the Magic Kingdom. There are no balconies in the Garden Wing rooms, but if you are on the first floor, there is a shared patio outside your room with table and chairs. You will save money by choosing a standard room in the Garden Wing over a Tower Room, but will miss out on the views.
