We are planning a trip this summer to Disney and we have never been. I don't even know where to begin. Any suggestions? Also, My son has Fragile X is there any special treatment for him?

    Hi Bryson,

Congratulations on your upcoming trip!  As for where to start,  you've come to the perfect place!  Disney is currently offering some unprecedented specials.  It's "buy 4, get 3 free" package is available for many nights through August 15.  Be sure to check frequently for up to date promotions.  I would start by picking a resort, which are divided into 3 categories based on price:  Value, Moderate & Deluxe.  Each offers fabulous perks including Magical Express, use of Disney transportation, and extra magic hours.  The independent website has great photos of all of the properties and is a good place to get a sneak peak of those you are considering.

After booking, think about what restaurants your family is most interested in.  Would your son like to dine with characters?  If so, Chef Mickey's and the Crystal Palace are great choices.  Dining Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance by calling (407) 939-3463.

Finally, with respect to your son's disability, I think you'll find that Disney does a wonderful job at helping people with a variety of abilities enjoy magical vacations.  First, ensure that you stop at Guest Relations, and explain your son's needs to the Cast Member (CM) who assists you.  If your son cannot wait in line, for example, mention this.  The CM will provide you with a Guest Assistance Card that will help facilitate your trip, by ensuring that you can access rides via an alternate entrance, and reducing waiting times.  You can also get a special sticker for a stroller that will enable you to use it as a wheelchair (accessing attractions via a handicap entrance.)  In addition, I encourage you to click HERE , to access Disney's site for guests with special needs for information that I omitted.  You can also call (407) 939-6244 with specific questions, and a Cast Member will be happy to assist you.

    Have a magical trip!
