We are planning a trip to the park and I need to know about services offered for my autistic son.

Greetings, Emily and welcome to planDisney!

Welcome to The Happiest Place on Earth! As a mother of a now-adult autistic young man, who grew up vacationing at Disney Destinations including Disneyland Resort, I feel that I can offer some insight to help you with your planning in consideration of your precious son.

The Disneyland Resort offers many Services for Guests with Disabilities to afford Guests a more comfortable and enjoyable visit and the services also offer guides that are ready for download in a printable format, or if you wish, you can speak with a friendly Cast Member at the City Hall, Chamber of Commerce or a Guest Information location to request copies of your own for reference during your visit.

I would like to draw your attention to the Disability Access Service (DAS), which my son greatly benefited from during our recent stay because this service considered my son’s unique disability needs in experiencing difficulty tolerating extended waits in the conventional queue areas by offering more comfortable options while we wait.

Emily, registration for the Disability Access Service (DAS) can be done in one of two ways:

    1. In-person, on-site at City Hall, Chamber of Commerce or a Guest Information location.
    2. Pre-arrival with DAS Advance virtually with a Cast Member in a live video chat, as soon as "30 days in advance of your theme park visit, but no less than 2 days prior to arrival."

Please keep in mind, that for both methods of registration, the person who requires the DAS accommodation, needs to be present. As well, once registered, the Guest utilizing the DAS accommodation must be present when redeeming DAS selections at Disneyland Resort theme park experiences.

Emily, I have great news! Now, through “DAS Advance pre-arrival planning with a Cast Member, you will have the opportunity to book up to 2 one-hour return windows for select experiences,” pending availability, in addition to being able to make DAS return-time selections during your visit at Disneyland Resort. As well, during your visit, you can now make same-day self-selections in the Disneyland Mobile App.

If you plan on staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, I have some helpful tips for you, Emily, please don't hesitate to ask me, it would be my immense pleasure to assist you!

    Magical wishes ~ Jacqueline
