We are planning a trip in Orlando and wanted to do a day trip to magic kingdom. What are some tips for someone not staying at the Disney hotels?

Welcome to planDisney, Olga! Any day spent at Magic Kingdom Park is going to be filled with magical memories, exciting attractions and shows, hugs from your favorite characters, and don't forget the nightly fireworks spectacular! It's my favorite park at the Walt Disney World Resort, and I'm so excited to give you some tips to make the most of your day!

My first tip is to be prepared for some early morning logistics! At 7 AM, you will be eligible to join the Virtual Queue for TRON Lightcycle/Run - the newest thrill ride at Magic Kingdom! This is also the time you can book your first selection if you choose to utilize the Disney Genie+ service. Both of these are done through the My Disney Experience mobile app. As an off-site guest, you are also eligible to book Individual Lightning Lane entries for TRON Lightcycle/Run and for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train if you choose - this process is available to off-site guests at the time of park opening.

Olga, when you enter Magic Kingdom Park, you leave today and enter a world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy! So let's talk about entering the park next!

If you're looking to make the most of your day, I recommend arriving to the parks bright and early! Parking for Magic Kingdom is at the Transportation and Ticket Center, and the parking lot opens about an hour before Early Theme Park Entry for Disney Resort Hotel guests. Once you have arrived and parked, you will need to take either the Disney Monorail or a ferryboat to the Magic Kingdom. It's important to know that all guests are allowed entry onto Main Street, U.S.A. about an hour before official opening time. This is a great opportunity to get inside the park, grab some photos in front of Cinderella Castle, and make a plan for which attractions you'd like to experience first.

When it's time for lunch, consider taking advantage of Mobile Ordering to avoid waiting in lines. This service is available for many of the quick service locations throughout the park, including my favorite, Pecos Bill. After lunch, be sure to find a viewing spot for the Festival of Fantasy parade; my family loves to grab a Fruit and Nutella Waffle at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square and catch the parade there while we enjoy our favorite snack!

If you're looking for a sit-down meal during your visit, I recommend Tony's Town Square or Liberty Tree Tavern. Be sure to make an Advance Dining Reservation if you're interested in these options, which you can book 60 days ahead of your visit through your My Disney Experience account!

Olga, there is so much to see and do at Magic Kingdom, you are sure to have a jam-packed day! My best tip is to enjoy the magic all around you, and definitely stick around for the Happily Ever After fireworks!

    See you real soon,
    Alison
