We are planning a trip to in October and staying with some friends that are part of the Disney vacation club. My 5 year old daughter is not on the reservation, therefore will not get a magic band. My question is, can I bring an old one and they can link it

    Hi Samantha!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! So, the answer to your question is a “yes and no” type of answer. Any Magic Band that belongs to your daughter that still has a working battery can be brought with you and used during your trip. You will need to have her park ticket linked to that band in your My Disney Experience account, if you wish to use the band to enter the parks. You can also wait to purchase her theme park ticket and have it linked to the Magic Band once you arrive.

If your daughter is not on the reservation however, then she is not entitled to the benefits of Guests staying on property. If she is not added, she will not be linked to your room in any way. Her Magic Band will not open the resort room door, or give her access to the pool as only registered Guests are allowed to use the pool (this is especially important at Disney’s Beach Club Villas where she cannot get a special pool wristband if she is not staying at the resort). She also cannot receive Disney’s Magical Express transportation if she needs it, her Magic Band will not allow her entrance to theme parks for Morning Extra Magic Hours, nor will it allow her on attractions during Evening Extra Magic Hours, and you will not be able to book her FastPass+ selections until 30 days prior to each park day you are planning. Those who are currently on the room reservation may make FastPass+ selections up to 60 days in advance and make them for the entire length of the stay.

I would ask your friends to add your daughter to the official reservation due to the limitations I have mentioned. These things cannot be linked on arrival if she is still not on the reservation. Please let me know if there are any additional questions I can help you with.

    Have a Disney Day!
