We are planning a trip for October 2011 or Feburary 2012 and I was wondering which of these months was the better one visit the parks. We are going at one of these times because the heat of the summer months keeps us from doing everything we want.

    Hi Beth!
Oh, decisions, decisions!! The good news is, "You're going to Disney World!!" Now, let's just pick a time. 9.99 times out of 10, I would choose to go in October.
Although February offers cooler average temperatures than October (and certainly cooler than summer), you run the risk of school vacation/Spring Break crowds (moreso than October), meaning crowded parks and longer wait times.
The benefits to October are many (particularly later in the month)! First off, late October is USUALLY when the daytime and nighttime temps become more moderate (warm days, comfortable nights). In addition, the crowds are generally lighter (except maybe Columbus Day weekend). Finally, the parks are decorated for Halloween and you can attend Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party which is a spectacular event (requires separate admission ticket, however).
For my money, October would be clear choice (the later in the month, the better).
I hope this helps and I wish you a Magical vacation, whenever it takes place!! :)
