Planning a trip in Oct with 4 yearold DD. Would Mickey's Backyard BBQ or Chef Mickey be a better choice? Or are they both experiences not to be missed? Are the same characters at both?

    Hi Amanda!

Both are great experiences and a chance to interact with Mickey, Minnie, and friends.  However, they are different.  In my opinion, you get more one-on-one time with Mickey and friends at Chef Mickey's, though it's not a lot.  The characters will come to your table to take pictures, sign autographs, give a hug, etc. before moving on to the next table.  Each character basically comes one by one to your table so you might have to wait a while to see them all.  However, there's a lot of energy in the restaurant all the time and you will not be bored!  By the way, it's a great time to get food from the buffet line in between characters arriving at your table!

Mickey's Backyard BBQ is more like a dance party with county music.  Children (and adults) can go out on to the large dance floor and dance together or with some of the characters.  However, there isn't any one on one time with the characters; rather it is more like 10 or more on one, such as in 10 children dancing with Minnie Mouse in one corner of the floor while 10 other children are dancing with Goofy, etc.

The food is also different, though I like them both.  If you can't decide, then my recommendation would be to do Chef Mickey's one morning before going to the Magic Kingdom and Mickey's Backyard BBQ a different evening.  By the way, a nice relaxing way to reach Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness is to take the boat from the Magic Kingdom to Fort Wilderness.  Once you get off the boat at Fort Wilderness, it's a very short 3 to 5 minute walk to where the BBQ is held!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
