I am planning a trip for Oct 2010 It will be 3 adults 3 boys(6,7,8) I am wondering the best way to book...Wait for specials to be announced and book it myself? or go thru a travel agent, have them do "room only" and add discounts if they are anno

    Hi Kathleen!

I have been to Walt Disney World once or twice a year since I was a child. I've lost track of the exact number, but I've easily visited over 100 times. While I haven't stayed in every Disney resort, I've stayed in most of them and I've visited all of them. I've also stayed in Downtown Disney and in over a dozen hotels off site. I like to think that I know something about visiting Walt Disney World!

I used to always book my own vacations -- either through the Disney Reservation Center or on-line. However, a couple of years ago,I decided to try an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. They are travel agents who specialize in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and Adventures by Disney. Generally, the agents have spent an incredible amount of time at the resorts and they have completed Disney education courses. To say the least, I was impressed, very impressed. My agent knew Disney inside and out, she knew the instant new discount codes were being released, and she knew all of the tricks of the trade to save my family and friends money and time. For trips planned far in advance, I would almost always get an e-mail from her at some point before the trip stating that she was successful in getting a discount applied to my reservation (sometimes I knew the discount was coming, and sometimes I was completely surprised). I now go to her for all of my Disney travel needs.

Some Authorized Disney Vacation Planners will also help with Advanced Dining Reservations and they can suggest things to do inside and outside of the parks. I have found that a lot of them will also provide suggestions on where to stay, where to eat, what attractions to experience, etc. after getting to know you and your family a little bit. There are good ones all over the country, but a lot of them work via the web, telephone, and e-mails.  If you can't tell, I'm a big fan!

Enjoy planning and write back if you have any more questions!
