Howdy Ingrid!
Disney's Old Key West Resort is a large resort. Several years ago we visited and had a bit of a challenging time with Disney Transportation. It seemed like we waited forever for a bus to arrive - I'm sure it wasn't actually that long but I was REALLY excited to get to Magic Kingdom.
However, the transportation team seems to have made some great logistical improvements over the years. There are several bus stops strategically located throughout the resort. When we visit, I like to reserve a villa near the Hospitality House. If those villas are not available, there is a shuttle that runs every 15-20 minutes within the resort that we use.
Old Key West is one of my husband's favorites. To him, it is the resort at which he most feels like he is home. It's beautiful, spacious and we have found it to be very quiet and relaxing.
One of my favorite things is the fact that you are a short boat ride away from the shopping and dining at Downtown Disney. FABULOUS!!
Do you have children? Is there a specific theme park at which you plan to spend the majority of your time? Are there any other factors that would help you determine the best resort to fit your needs? Sorry, I know I am asking more questions than I am answering but I am trying to give you some things to think about as you plan your next vacation.
Bottom line, I love all of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts and I think you will enjoy your time at Old Key West if you decide to stay there. Each resort has so much to offer!!
Please let me know what you decide. It's such a hard decision and there is so much to consider. I know you will have a magical time whatever decision you make!
