Hi there Lisa,
A big welcome to planDisney from a fellow Canadian, it’s so great to help with your
Disneyland Resort question today! I’m so excited you’ll be travelling to the Happiest Place on Earth this Fall, a stay at
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel will be so special! Your stay coincides with the holiday season kickoff so you’ll see the resorts decked out with holiday decorations. Head over to
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa to see the larger-than-life Christmas tree that is a focal point in the resort’s lobby, it’s sure to get you in a festive spirit!
Lisa, I spoke with a Cast Member regarding your question about payment options at Disneyland Resort. While cashless options such as Debit cards, Credit cards and Disney Gift cards are preferred, cash is still accepted for merchandise and dining. As a Canadian, I am always looking for the best way to stretch my dollars and one great way to do this is by using Disney Gift Cards purchased in Canada. These Disney Gift Cards are available at major grocery and pharmacy retailers across Canada and are purchased in Canadian dollars. When Canadian Disney Gift Cards are used in person or for online transactions on the U.S. official Disney website (think theme park tickets for example), the funds are converted to American dollars at the time of use. The previous night’s exchange rate is applied and if there is a remaining balance on the Gift Card, it will show on your receipt in U.S. dollars. Many Canadians purchase Disney Gift Cards as it eliminates conversion fees typically associated with credit cards. It is also a great way to budget for a trip!
If you have purchased a few Disney Gift Cards, you can merge them on
www.disneygiftcard.com. This website lets you keep tabs on your card balances and you can name the cards for easy tracking. To note: you cannot combine cards of different currencies so Canadian Gifts Cards and American Gift Cards must be kept separate.
Lisa, I hope this information helps with your vacation planning. If you have any additional questions,
please let me know - I’m happy to help!
See ya real soon,
Candace
