Planning a trip for Nov.2014. Just wondering how far in advance you can book restauants. On our trip last year we did not get to some of the restaurants we would have like to because they were all booked. Do we have to have a reservations made first.

    Hi Peggy,

Advanced Dining Reservations have become a hot commodity these days and you are correct in stating the most popular restaurants, indeed, book up quickly.

If you are staying at a Disney owned and operated Resort Hotel, you'll have the benefit of booking your Advanced Dining Reservations at 180 days prior to check-in, plus an additional 10 days. For example, if you plan to check-in on November 1st, 2014, you can begin booking reservations as early as May 5th, 2014, and subsequently book 10 days worth of reservations. You'll find many independent Disney fan sites offering handy calculators to help you determine your 180-day mark.

Be sure you have your Resort reservation handy in order to book your dining for the additional 10 days. In fact, having your online account already set up with My Disney Experience will allow for ease and convenience on your booking day. Although subject to change, currently the reservation line at 407-WDW-DINE, 407-939-3463, opens at 7:00 a.m. EST, but booking online will begin one hour prior.

If there are certain dining locations you simply do not want to miss, I'd highly encourage you to book your reservations as early as possible. Good luck, Peggy, and happy planning.
