Hello, we are planning a trip for next Summer and have narrowed our resort choices to WL and POFQ. We have 2 boys, 13 and 8. DH and I really love the location and theme of WL, but I don't know if I like it enough to shell out the extra $$. Any advice??

    Hi Amy:

Port Orleans French Quarter is a wonderful Resort, my favorite of the moderate Resorts. It's small and picturesque, which makes it very relaxing in my view. Wilderness Lodge is expertly themed also, but has a "bigger" and more of a "bustling" feel for me. The big transportation advantage the Wilderness Lodge has over Port Orleans French Quarter is to the Magic Kingdom. Wilderness Lodge is located just a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. Also, Port Orleans tends to share buses with Riverside Resort, which can add time to any ride.

Wilderness Lodge is considered a deluxe Resort providing more services and amenities (and some GREAT restaurants) and, as you surmise, it will likely be more expensive than a Port Orleans French Quarter reservation. My best guess is that you are just fine at Port Orleans French Quarter. Whether a switch is worth it likely depends on your budget (I wouldn't bust a budget to make the move) and perhaps how much time you plan to spend at Magic Kingdom.

    Enjoy your vacation.
