I am planning a trip for next summer where my daughter will turn 3 during our trip to Disney World. Will she need to have a park ticket for the days after her birthday? Also does this apply for character dining too? Thank you!

Hey there, hi there, Susan! You're as welcome as can be here at planDisney! I'm so glad you've stopped by with such oh-so-fun planning questions.

I'm so excited to see that the magic is calling you and your little one, Susan! I can't imagine a more magical and memorable way to celebrate a birthday than a holiday at The Most Magical Place on Earth. I'm more than happy to help you answer the call of the magic and plan the best birthday celebration for the best soon-to-be-three-year-old at Walt Disney World Resort!

I think you will be happy to hear that as long as your little one is still two years old upon arrival at Walt Disney World Resort, she will not need theme park tickets for her entire holiday. YAY! However, in my experience when at Walt Disney World Resort for my daughter's third and tenth birthdays, we did pay for certain dining experiences according to her current age at the time of the meal. For character meals that charge per person, we did have to pay a child's price for her to enjoy the dining experience on and after her third birthday.

I did speak with a Cast Member who informed me that policies on plate sharing for a little one who has just turned three can be different at different restaurants, so she suggested that you just explain your situation to a Cast Member at each restaurant to see what the policy is. Happy birthday to your little girl and bon appetit!

Did you know that you can order a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake to be delivered right to your table at participating restaurants? You can order the cake when you make your Advance Dining Reservation, and then a cake of your choice will be delivered at the end of your meal. We recently ordered a dark chocolate cake with "Happy Birthday" printed on Mickey's ears for my daughter's tenth birthday. It was absolutely delicious and such a sweet way to celebrate!

One more thing, Susan! Don't forget to pick up a complimentary "Happy Birthday" button for your little one from your Disney Resort Hotel's front desk or any Guest Relations location. I hope she has the BEST. DAY. EVER! Please stop by any time with any questions you may have along the way. You've got a friend in me!

    See ya real soon,
