We're planning a trip next May with DD 2.5yrs and son turning 5 during our stay. Will be spending most days at Magic Kingdom with breaks for naps/R&R. Which deluxe resort is best for us? Prefer the look of AKL or BeachClub but are they less convenie

    Hi Julie,

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! This is a really great question to think about.

I do love both Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney's Beach Club Resort. Both are beautiful and wonderfully themed. We have stayed at both and love them; however, as you point out, both are farther from Magic Kingdom Park than you might like.  In order to get from Magic Kingdom Park to either of those resorts, you are looking at a bus ride which will take a little while. If you have a car with you at Walt Disney World, you would be able to drive from those resorts to Magic Kingdom Park; however, at the Magic Kingdom you need to take a ferry boat or the monorail to get from the front gate to the parking lot - so it may still take a while to get to your car.

I suggest that you stay at one of the hotels on the monorail loop - Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Polynesian Resort, or Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. With your young ones and returning to the resort for naps, the monorail access really cannot be beat. I think that you will find it well worth it to stay at one of these resorts.  Of the three, I am going to make a couple of suggestions. My first suggestion is based on convenience, and that's Disney's Contemporary Resort. This is the only resort to which you can actually walk from the Magic Kingdom - you don't even have to get on the monorail! That super quick access might be invaluable for rest times. The other is Disney's Polynesian Resort. For me, this is based on theme.  Disney's Polynesian Resort is absolutely beautiful - so lush and tropical. You would need to get on the monorail to get here, but the theme may be worth it.

I hope that this information is helpful, Julie! Have a great time planning your trip and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
