Planning on a trip next June - 1st for our daughter (5). Both sets of grandparents planning to come. Stressing about planning days in the park in a way that will accommodate everyone and account for meltdowns... any suggestions for scheduling strategies?

Hi, Alison!    I think the most important person to accommodate when making your plans is your 5 year old daughter!      Make sure not to overschedule your days and have time set aside for your princess to take mid-day breaks.

Plan to arrive at the parks as early as possible.  This is when the weather most comfortable and lines are the shortest.   After lunch, plan to head back to your resort for a swim or a nap.   Now that everyone is refreshed, head back to the parks, to dinner, Downtown Disney, or whatever you have planned for the evenings.

Make sure to book  your Advance Dining Reservations.   As you may have heard, Disney Dining is going back to the 180 day booking window effective October 27, 2009.  So mark your calendar to make your plans once you hit your booking time.   The grandparents will appreciate a nice sit-down meal!

Once all your plans are made, itineraries set, and Dining Reservations secured, type up an itinerary and give to each person in  your party.   This way they know what to expect, and if they want something different they can make arrangements.

I hope your family has a magical vacation in Walt Disney World!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
