Hi there! Planning a trip in the near future with my family. What resorts have the easiest access to the parks? Also, can you buy a lightening lane for guardians? Thanks for the great info!

Hiya Brian! Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by with your questions!

I'm happy to hear you have decided to plan a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort this upcoming September! With so many new attractions that have recently debuted at the parks and the announcements of returning experiences, this is a great time to plan a visit!

Disney Resorts Hotels are one of the many reasons why I return time after time to Walt Disney World! I love being able to immerse myself in the magic upon arriving and not have to leave until we depart. Depending on what parks you plan to visit during your stay, some resorts may be better located for easier access. The resorts that sit along the monorail loop are perfect choices if you plan to visit the Magic Kingdom or even EPCOT. You can easily hop on the monorail to take you to the entrance of the Magic Kingdom or transfer onto another monorail to get you over to EPCOT. You'll even have boat access or a walking path available to the Magic Kingdom when needed. These resorts include:

    • Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
    • Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
    • Disney's Contemporary Resort

If you plan to spend more time at EPCOT or Disney's Hollywood Studios, the resorts surrounding Crescent Lake will be your best bet. Each of these resorts is within walking distance to the International Gateway into EPCOT or a stroll down the walking path to Hollywood Studios. You also have boat access to both parks as well as the Disney Skyliner. There are plenty of transportation options from here. These resorts include:

    • Disney's Boardwalk Inn
    • Disney's Beach Club Resort
    • Disney's Yacht Club Resort

The addition of the Disney Skyliner has made a few budget-friendly resorts have much easier access to the parks. You can now simply head out of your resort room and hop on the Disney Skyliner to take you to both Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. These resorts include:

    • Disney's Pop Century Resort
    • Disney's Art of Animation Resort
    • Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort

Now that you have an idea of where you plan to stay, let's talk about the latest addition to the parks! Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has taken EPCOT over by storm and has quickly become a favorite attraction of many. There are two ways to ride this attraction, one is to enter the Virtual Queue System to secure a boarding group and the other is to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for a selected time during the day. To enter the Virtual Queue, log on to your My Disney Experience App starting at 7 AM on the morning of your park visit. Select "Virtual Queue" and follow the prompts to try and land your spot. If you do not get a boarding group at this time, you have another chance at 1 PM to try again inside of the park. If you prefer to just pay for it, you can do so at 7 AM if you are staying at a Disney Resorts Hotel (or other select hotels) during your stay. If not, you will need to wait until the official park opening to make your purchase.

Brian, I hope this information helps you with planning your upcoming visit! Have a magical time!

    See ya real soon!
