We are planning for a trip in mid January 2022. When do Christmas decorations get taken down at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom?

    Hi Priya! Welcome to planDisney.

Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just weeks away! I can't think of a place I'd rather celebrate a brand-new year, and I know you are going to have the very best time. Hurray!

The holiday decorations in the theme parks, resorts, and Disney Springs are just gorgeous! I am especially fond of the gingerbread display at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, the Merry Menagerie puppets in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and the Christmas Tree Stroll at Disney Springs - although picking a favorite holiday experience is kind of like choosing between Santa's reindeer. They're all fabulous!

Disney doesn't share the dates for the debut or the take-down of holiday decorations. Through pixie-dusted magic (and Cast Member talent!), they usually go up and come down overnight. In past years, the holiday decorations have stayed up until after the runDisney Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, which is January 5-9, 2022, but there are no guarantees as to the exact date.

Priya, the good news is that The World's Most Magical Celebration continues through 2022. This celebration of Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary features lots of festivities, including beautiful EARidescent decor throughout the theme parks. In Magic Kingdom Park, Cinderella Castle is all dressed up for the party, and you can see the gorgeous Beacons of Magic in both Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. You can also catch special cavalcades in both parks (the ones in Animal Kingdom are my favorite because they are on boats that travel through the park's waterways) featuring music and characters. It wouldn't be a Disney theme park without festive treats, and there are so many delicious snacks in honor of the anniversary for you to try!

Be sure to follow the Disney Parks Blog as you plan your visit, as they will share news about special experiences, merchandise, or food available during your visit. Thank you for stopping by with your question, and please come back and see us if you think of anything else. Have a wonderful time next month!

    Wishing you much magic,
    Robyn
