Hi we are planning a trip in May 2016 with our 6 and 8 yr old boys. Any suggestions that boys like over the typical princess or toddler age group? Where should we go or plan for? When should we start actually making reservations to get the best rates?

    Hi, Abby!

Even without visiting princesses, my boys have an amazing time visiting the Walt Disney World Resort!

Check out The Pirates League located in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom. Here they will get their own official pirate names, receive a pirate look, and receive treasures. There are packages to accommodate any budget, and I find them to be very reasonably priced. There are also fun pirate themed adventures available such as Pirate Adventure Cruises and Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage.

There are also many, many non-princess characters to meet! Gaston is a hoot, and will probably tell your boys how they can become 'real men' like him. Chip and Dale are always fun to play with. Goofy is always, well, GOOFY! And of course, no visit is complete without a hug from Mickey Mouse.

At Magic Kingdom Park, your boys will enjoy playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and Disney Phineas and Ferb: Agent P's World Showcase Adventure. Both games will take you on an adventure, unlocking hidden secrets and saving the day!

Keep an eye on the Special Offers page for May discounts. Discounts are typically announced several months in advance. If you wish to dine at any Table-Service restaurants during your trip, you will want to book these 180 days in advance, as some restaurants fill up quickly. You do not need to have a vacation yet booked to make these advanced reservations.

Meet the Panelist: Rachel, Wisconsin

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
