We're planning a trip in May/12 for our Son's 5th Birthday. Another family is coming along. Can you give us suggestions for a great birthday party. This will be his first visit to WDW. Everyone else has been there at least once.

    Hi Shelley,

Disney World is the perfect place to celebrate a 5th birthday! Pirates are always a favorite at that age. Click here for some pirate themed suggestions.

If he loves Star Wars, you could plan to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS) & check out the Jedi Training Academy - click here for more info. He may also enjoy a visit to Tatooine Traders located next to Star Tours where he can build his own lightsaber. You can also do this at Once Upon A Toy at Downtown Disney.

If you visit DHS during evening Extra Magic Hours (EMH), be sure to visit the Disney Junior Dance Party where he can dance the night away with some of the stars from Disney Junior. They were also doing balloon animals when we were there (no charge - gotta like that).

A character meal is always a big hit. My boys love Mickey's Backyard Barbeque. When making any advanced dining reservations (ADRs), be sure to mention that he'll be celebrating a birthday.

For a personal touch, contact the Disney Floral & Gifts Department. They can help with an in-room celebration or a special delivery to a dining location. Visit them online at www.disneyflorist.com or call them at 407-WDW-GIFT.

Be sure to pick up your son a "Happy Birthday" button at Guest Relations. Wishing your son minnie magical memories :-) Allison
