    Planning a trip in May with husband and 8-yr old son. Looking at AKL, and really like it but trying to decide if it's worth the extra money? If we choose to stay somewhere less expensive, what do you recommend? A good pool with a slide is a requirement!

    Hi Sara,

    As a fellow Show-Me State mom I understand the importance of a fun pool area with a great slide to "show" your family for vacation.  While I also enjoy the Deluxe Resorts immensely, the frugal mom in me often chooses the Moderate Resort hotel category for our family vacations.  My children's favorite pool area in the Moderate category is Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort hotel.  This is a large Resort divided into separate Caribbean themed villages and each has its own leisure pool.  However the main Fuentes del Morro pool located in the center of the Resort at Old Port Royale is designed for young or old adventurers and boasts 2 slides.  This pool is themed to look like a colonial Spanish fortress and also has a zero depth entry and a separate Shipwreck splash area for children under 48".  My children enjoyed this pool so much they have requested for our next visit to reserve preferred rooms in order to be closer to the main pool area.  Another perk of this Resort is that you are able to view much of the nightly fireworks display from Epcot's IllumiNations along many of the beaches including from the pool deck at Fuentes del Morro pool.
