Hello Planning a trip in May the first or second week. There is a marathon the first weekend is it best to go the week before or after for lower crowds. Thanks for any help you can give me. Thank You

Hi Kimberly! Figuring out the Disney park crowds is certainly not an exact science. Through the years it has become more difficult to know when the "down" times are and actually there aren't any weeks left that don't have something special happening.

When it comes to race weekends many of the participants come in around Thursday. They will bring family and friends so the parks will get a bit busier. More important the large marathons can affect the roads and transportation system on race day so pre planning on where you want to be that day is a must. Once the race is finished you will find the majority leave Sunday or Monday but of course some will stay and enjoy the parks through the week.

I don't think it really makes much difference which week you would find fewer people in the parks.  The question is whether you wish to start your vacation with some business or end it with race crowds? At that time of year you are also going to find graduation groups and end of school year trips. Just make advanced dining reservations and do some planning ahead and you will surely have a super vacation!
