Hello! I am planning a trip for March 2014.Mardi Gras week.I know I can book a room only reservation 499 days in advance. Is it possible to change it to a Package later? What are pros and cons of tickets/room separate vs the package? Is it just dining&ex

    Hello, Dustin!

Guests are able to cancel reservations made directly through Walt Disney World as long as those reservations are cancelled at least 6 days prior to arrival. This means that you could contact a WDW Cast Member when ready to book a package, have your deposit charge from your first reservation credited to your account so that you can then charge your new deposit back onto your card.

Should you need to add tickets to a room only package, you can have this done at the front desk upon check-in. We usually ask for the Dining Plan to be added to our room reservation as well, which you can then access from your Key to the World Card.

I'd book what you can now, so that you'll have the peace of mind that you have a place to stay, and then keep an eye on specials and packages that become available as the date gets closer. Have fun planning!
