Hello. Planning a trip in late may 2010 with my daughter. She will have just turned 5. which disney resort would be the best of the moderate and the deluxe. Thanks

This is a great question!  Every member of my family has a different answer!  Based on my experience, your  5 year old will probably want to spend a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom or Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Thus a Magic Kingdom resort may be ideal.  My personal favorite is the Wilderness Lodge; it's on Bay Lake, you feel like you are in the Pacific Northwest, and you can take a boat to the Magic Kingdom.  My second favorite is the Contemporary; it's the home of Chef Mickey's, a Character Dining experience my boys love, and you can either take the monorail or walk to the Magic Kingdom.  My wife loves the Polynesian because of its theme.  From a Magic Kingdom resort, the easiest way to reach Disney's Hollywood Studios is via a Disney bus.

My 5 year old loves the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which is another Deluxe Resort.  He loves to see all of the animals on the savannas from the lodge.  The whole family also enjoys eating breakfast and dinner at Boma there.  You can take a bus from this resort to the Magic Kingdom or Disney's Hollywood Studios.

For a Moderate Resort, my family really enjoys Port Orleans Riverside.  We like the theme of the Alligator Bayou section of the resort; they have a rustic backwoods cottage setting that we love.  The kids also enjoy the pool area; it has a great slide for a Moderate Resort and my 5 year old loves it.  Another Moderate Resort with a great pool area for a 5 year old is Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.

You really can not go wrong with any Disney Deluxe or Moderate Resort.  Have a great trip!
