We are planning a trip for late March early April for 2010, and this is our 1st trip here. How soon do we need to start making plans? We are bringing a 7 &5 yr old and are not sure where to begin. HELP

Hi April!  It is never too early to start to plan a trip to Walt Disney World!  Half of the fun is in the planning stages and getting your children involved in the process.

Get familiar with the Disney website, www.disneyworld.com .  Review the various resorts and the categories so you are able to decide which one has the amenities you need as well as the budget you want to stay within.  To make your resort reservations call 407-934-7639.

Now you will have time to review all the restaurants and dining plans to see if that is what you prefer to do for your stay.  I recommend getting at least one dining reservation a day for your stay.   At this point you can select one or two of the table service restaurants in each park and choose some resort dining that interests you and start a list of favorites.  Sample menus can be found at www.allears.net by typing in MENUS in the search box.  Please continue to check for updates for 2010.

Also review the recreation options available through-out the property.  Decide if there are special events or opportunities that interest you for your family and make that list.

At this time Disney is publishing their calendars four months in advance.  This will be a very important time for you to do your final planning.  Check all parks for their Extra Magic Hours and decide what parks you will want to visit on what days.  Coordinate your park or resort dining so you are not traveling far for these meal breaks.

For the 2009 year you are able to make dining and recreation reservations 90 days out from your arrival date.  That will be an important day to circle on your calendar as this policy will most likely continue for 2010.

As your planning process continues please feel free to ask the panel for more advice and answers!
